Dr. Julie Knapp, Ph.D., BCBA-D is a Pediatric Neuropsychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctorate. She is Executive Director of the Knapp Center for Childhood Development located in Boardman, OH, which specializes in the diagnosis, neuropsychological assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Knapp offers an International ABA Program assisting families from other parts of the world to travel to the US for ABA therapy. She offers remote training and supervision on ABA programs through a HIPPA secure website to families across the world who otherwise cannot find local ABA therapy or who want expert advice on their program. Dr. Knapp is also a Consultant at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and holds an appointment at Case Western Reserve University. Carolline Turnbull, BA, BCaBA is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst at KidsLink Neurobehavioral Center in Twinsburg, OH. Carolline is a behavior consultant for home and school-based consultation, and developed a dance class for children ages 3-6 with varying disabilities and their neurotypical peers. She completed her Bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology at Kent State University and her course work for her BCaBA at Florida Institute of Technology. Not great

I am a new SLP (please keep that in mind when reading this review) and have had experience using the book A Work in Progress in my internship, which is an excellent book for writing ABA programs for communication skills. For every skill, A Work in Progress provides the reasons for targeting the skill, how to do it, why it's important (very nice to have for when you have to talk to parents), prompting and prompt fading, any skills that are prerequisite, and many ideas for activities. I was hoping that A Complete ABA Curriculum would be something similar but with more advanced skills.

A Complete ABA Curriculum is an enormous book, but they easily could have saved the paper and made it about five times smaller, as the majority of the pages are repeats of essentially the same data sheet for every program. To me, the ways it recommends targeting skills embody the negative stereotype of ABA. That is, it recommends tasks that are, in most instances, totally rote and not functional. For example, for teaching the "real vs. make believe" concept, they recommend printing out pictures of real and make believe people/animals/etc. and having the student sort them into piles. The book provides "examples of prerequisite skills" for some programs, not all. They have "suggested targets" for their programs but they do not list any additional teaching activities or reasoning behind why the skills are important. I was disappointed in the receptive and expressive language skills programs, although I did not look at other programs. Maybe BCBAs or other professionals would view it differently.

Down to earth ABA curriculum

Lucky for us to have these books. Its easy to adopt and implement in our homebase therapy for our autistic kid. Big thanks for Julie Knapp and teams that make it 'down to earth' ABA curriculum in these books..Even for beginner parents that starting to apply ABA

I didn't enjoy the storyline of Broken Prince as much as I did Paper Princess. I was hoping Ella would date other people, maybe even Easten because I like them together better than Ella and Reed. The ending was just crazy, as if Reed never learned his lesson from book one. The kiss with Wade was perfect. I needed more of that. I didn't feel there was much of a story, more of a filler between book one and three but I finished it in a day.

Disappointing

I got completely sucked into Paper Princess and stayed up late into the night to finish it in one sitting, because I couldn't put it down. So I was extremely excited for the sequel. That excitement faded after I started reading it, and I actually set it aside to read another book. I've continued to read Broken Prince in short increments since then, because it's not as compelling as the first book.

I loved the angst and the sexual tension in the first book, and there is none of that in Broken Prince. The problem here is that we get Reed's POV, and that takes away all the uncertainty and intrigue about his intentions. I couldn't connect with Ella's doubt in this one, because I already knew the truth straight from Reed's thoughts. He was also more interesting when he was ambiguous. Knowing all his thoughts ruined that. It also took away all the tension and anticipation. It made the story too predictable.

I enjoyed Ella's showdowns in the first book, but they were ridiculous and overdone in this one. All the drama here quickly became tiresome. It dragged on and on, and there was no fun. The first book had fun scenes to enjoy, but I can't remember any in this book. Even Easton was depressed during the entire book. I love angst, but this tipped over into melodrama. The only unexpected thing that happened was Gideon's secret. That piqued my interest, but it was only a brief part of the plot.

The worst part of this book was the ending. The cliffhanger in the first one promised all kinds of antagonism and fireworks that this book didn't deliver. The cliffhanger in this one was just plain stupid. It made Reed look stupid, because there was no reason for him to go anywhere near the mess his dad was already taking care of. It made no sense in the plot, and it is completely contrived just to add enough drama to drag things out for another book.

I'm really disappointed, because I expected to love this book as much as the first one. Sadly, all the magic is gone.

Bette Ford grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where she continues to live. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. Bette began her teaching career in Detroit and completed her master’s degree from Wayne State University. She has taught for the Detroit Public Schools HeadStart program for many years, and is the author of eight previous novels.

This book is HOT!!! I love reading a Bette Ford book. Bette is a great romance writer who presents strong, caring, successful African American men and women of integrity. Since becoming a die-hard AA romance book fan there are several authors I count on to deliver not only the spice and the flavor but also serve up a positive message. Although love may be color blind, society isn't and oftentimes true romance between an African American couple are seldom portrayed realistically in any form of media.

Gavin Mathis is indicative of Ms. Ford's characters. He exudes athletic prowess and that added with his good looks provides him with plenty of play on and off the field. Gavin in not interested in being a player-playa, he's a man of well grounded moral convictions despite his worthless fathers disappearance and reappearance (when the money begins to flow). Gavin wants a woman that wants him for the man he is and not merely the lifestyle he can afford them.

Anna Prescott is a beautiful, confident woman who shares partnership in a successful catering business. Anna has grown up the only girl in a family of over protective men which includes Gavin who is best friend and teammate of her older brother Wesley. I enjoyed Anna's character because she was not weak or afraid to take charge of her life, she also was not hoping for that one man to come along to define her.

Both Anna and Gavin risk the stability and bond of family and friendship to explore emotions they try to deny but yet won't remain dormat. Anna's strength and Gavin's unwavering committment not to allow what they've discovered in each other to be minimized by others is what helps to make this such a wonderful romance.

I've found Bette's secondary characters are as strong as the primary without removing the spotlight. Many have been featured in their own story and it's always good when they make an appearance. I look forward to a story for Scott (After Dark) he needs closure. I hope there is a story in Kyle and Wayne's future too.

the Detroit Lions, is unaware of Anna's affection; he sees her

as the sister he never had.

About the time of Anna's transformation, Gavin seeks her help with

a family emergency. Although she was not trying to get Gavin's

attention, for the first time he sees her as a sexy woman, and this

creates problems for him. Gavin has to remind himself that she is part

of his extended family, and for a very personal reason, he is afraid

of a commitment. But Gavin is jealous of whomever has caused the

change in Anna. Feeling anxious about the reason for her change, but

afraid to ask who caused it, has Gavin tied in knots. Will he throw

consequences to the wind and listen to his heart?

Ms. Ford aptly uses her gift of sharing human stories, with sports

figures as the catalyst, to entertain readers. As she did with

my personal favorite AFTER DARK, she has written a tender story that

generates sparks, spice and physical excitement. This one answers

Bette's debut with Avon is a real treat!

UNFORGETTABLE offers everything a diehard romance reader wants in a novel, two very likable characters, a plot that keeps you turning the pages, steamy love scenes, and just a touch of bittersweet angst. Anna and professional football player, Gavin have known each other all their lives. Anna had a crush on Gavin when she was a teen, and has never truly gotten over it. However Gavin sees her only as the little sister of his best friend. Or so Anna thinks. One day Gavin's deadbeat dad drops by for money, and leaves Gavin a gift: His younger brother, Kyle. Abandoned with a brother he's never known by a father who obviously doesn't care about his well-being, Kyle is one lost kid. Gavin, however, steps up to the bat and vows to give Kyle a good home. He will need help though. That's where Anna comes in. Anna owns a catering business that prepares meals for Gavin's football team, the Detroit Lions. He sees her practically everyday. When he asks her to watch Kyle for him when he has to be out of town on away games, and to continue to cook for the two brothers Anna doesn't have to think long before agreeing to the arrangement. But with them in such close proximity, it isn't long before they both discover a strong attraction between them. Attraction? No, more like a burning desire. But everything, including atoms, is made of highly unified or "coherent" bundles of energy called "quanta" that (like everything else) obey certain rules. In the case of the quantum, these rules are called "quantum physics." This is a book about quanta and their unexpected, some would say peculiar, behavior--tales, if you will, of the quantum.

The quantum has developed the reputation of being capricious, bewildering, even impossible to understand. The peculiar habits of quanta are certainly not what we would have expected to find at the foundation of physical reality, but these habits are not necessarily bewildering and not at all impossible or paradoxical. This book explains those habits--the quantum rules--in everyday language, without mathematics or unnecessary technicalities. While most popular books about quantum physics follow the topic's scientific history from 1900 to today, this book follows the phenomena: wave-particle duality, fundamental randomness, quantum states, superpositions (being in two places at once), entanglement, non-locality, Schrodinger's cat, and quantum jumps, and presents the history and the scientists only to the extent that they illuminate the phenomena.

A first rate book

This book is an excellent introduction to quantum physics for the intelligent reader without extensive physics or math background. It is one of very few which develops the ideas from a conceptually, coherent and consistent viewpoint, and is, at the same time, clearly and engagingly written. It tells a good story.

But physics students would benefit enormously from reading it also, because while the standard quantum texts tell you how to manipulate quantum equations and solve problems, most never take the time or trouble to tell the student exactly what it is they are manipulating...what quanta are. This book both carefully explains the fundamental objects of quantum mechanics and elucidates their workings and strange properties, the central ones being superposition and entanglement.

I wish this book had been available for my History of Science classes.

Tales Of The Quantum is also very unusual in that it takes the stance that many of the “paradoxes” and “mysteries” of QM really resolve quite well, if one adopts the quantum field model consistently, e.g. there is no imponderable wave-particle duality if waves are the underlying reality and particles are a secondary effect of the way they interact.

Hobson makes a very good case that the wave model is more sensible and consistent...and gives real experimental evidence to back it up...my favorite example being that an accelerating observer will measure a particle present in an area that a non accelerating observer will not. Both observers register matter waves in the area, so if particles are bedrock reality how can one observer not have them? Good question, and it illustrates Hobson’s compelling arguments on this issue. He makes the case that the prevalence of the particle view was an historical accident.

The quality of explanation is notable throughout, after reading the section “what is a quantum state”, I felt I understood it for the first time, even though I’ve read quite a few QM books. Previously quantum states were just arbitrarily applied numbers to me. (The only exception to the explanational thoroughness was a few pages detailing the standard model of particle physics, which was too condensed, but a thorough background here would take several hundred pages at least).

Hobson also takes the philosophical issues of the subject straight on, (such questions as are quanta and their states real), and provides a well thought out framework, which takes the ideas seriously, but shows some of them are resolvable. He is particularly clear on why the pop science literature claim of the connection between quantum reality and Human consciousness has no foundation in the science.
Philosophy students could rid themselves of many false claims (our mind creates reality etc.) By reading this book which makes very clear what science does, and does not, say about such perennial issues. Hobson is a realist, but a quantum realist, and could make many a convert to that view.

So, The book is not only worthwhile for the curious non-scientist, physics, and philosophy student alike, but is also an important contribution in resolving many long standing conceptual issues in the field.

Great work of Scietific Literacy for our world

I am familiar with several editions of Physics text book by Art Hobson and I owe him a lot of gratitude for imparting a deep knowledge of Concepts and Connections of Quantum Physics. I bought so far 3 copies of "The Tales of Quantum" and quickly read one time. I expect to read more deeply again. It is even easier to understand than his text book for liberal arts students. Any one interested to learn the fundamental concepts of Quantum Physics but do not have the math back ground would appreciate this important addition to scientific literacy. Art Hobson has dedicated his entire life to improving scientific literacy for Americans and world over making modern physics easy for common man (common man in my opinion is who has at least high school level of general literacy but not necessarily about Quantum). This book is very much needed under the current situation as all kinds of charlatans/creationists purporting to be scientists confuse the public about Quantum ideas for example Deepak Chopra and many other pseudo scientists. They try to confuse human consciousness with Quantum Physics Concepts. Only scientifically literate public in democratic free countries like US can make good decisions by knowing the real science. Our economy now 30% or more directly related to the Concepts of Quantum Physics. Now still a slight majority of Americans believe in Creationism. Only antidote for this sorry state of affair is Scientific Literacy and promoting works by Art Hobson like teachers. In this regard this book gives a deep knowledge about the most valid scientific theory of today which was completed by the great scientists of 20th century and still under active development. Art Hobson is honest in his treatment of the subject and gives scientific reasoning in a easily understandable manner.

However I have to give a caution. Several years ago I bought about 100 copies of "Quantum Physics for Poets" by Leon Lederman and Chris Hill and gave away most of the copies to my class mates who went to college in the 60s. It appears most of them did not read. One professor class mate of mine told me he read it but took many months at the pace he read but he was shocked to understand quantum reality. Great Dane Niels Bohr or some one said that if you are not shocked by Quantum Physics you have not understood it. For the people who never knew such a science and are shocked after learning it, I assume Art Hobson would be extremely happy. To me the principles of Quantum, is a life changing knowledge and Art Hobson's book, is one of the most important books for the public scientific literacy.

Art Hobson clearly identifies issues of controversy and misunderstanding of the fundamental concepts of Quantum world and the readers would be enlightened and would feel that they have understood the great secret of the microscopic world and would be able to be happy knowing they have learnt a great lesson of science. It is important to learn Quantum before one exits this world. Who ever reads this book would be more knowledgeable in this subject than Albert Einstein even though one may not have Einstein's mind. I don't mean to say there is nothing more exciting to be discovered. We only become more humbled knowing that we are only a very small insignificant part of this universe and most of it is made up stuff we don't know what it is and the best of our young people in the world are still working on it.

I strongly recommend and commend the author for great service to the humanity by writing this important book and Oxford U P for publishing it.

This Book, Rocks.... Being a Cosmetic, Paramedical, and Custom Tattoo Artist, besides all that, I love reference material all the time... It's good to read other peoples views on the Art of Tattooing because there is so much involved in it... Some was informative and it made for good reading...

Everyone has their own individual style... and it's always good, to be on the cutting edge of your Art... There were plenty of things I had figured out on my own, but for a beginner, this will help them... greatly !!!!!!!

Not what I expected.

The book was informative on basic things that a beginner must and should know. I picked this book over a couple others due to its great reviews, and topics that were covered. I was moderalty disappointed upon opening it, more so near the end of reading it. It repeated a lot of things thru out the entire book, a lot of the things I already did know from researching online, forums, and asking my own tattoo artist. A good section of the book is giving common advice like picking a good location when opening a shop, websites do and don't. Advertizing/Marketing topics I could care less about and had no interest in due to the fact this is just a hobby. Definitely not worth almost $100.

An Excellent Book about Open Marriage - NOT Swinging!

The title of this book has become misleading only because the meaning of the words "Open Marriage" has changed over the decades.
This book is an excellent guide for people interested in all the aspects of attaining and living in an open marriage, which is an overall way of life, not just sexual freedom. Everything from sex to doing the dishes is covered in this book. Some of the language may sound dated since it's original printing, but then again, so does Shakespeare.
This the best book I have ever found to learn about ALL aspects of your marital relationships (not just the sexual ones) and discover the ways in which people try to control and eventually destroy each other as individuals within a marriage.
If you want a book on "swinging" (a/k/a recreational, non-monogomous sex) then this is NOT the book you are looking for. But then again, Open Marriage is leaps and bounds beyond just swinging. This book guides you through making this a way of life in a wonderful way, changing the traditional marriage views in ALL aspects, including non-monogomous sex, but not JUST sex.
How do I know this? I've been living this way for 15 years and still going happy and strong. My first "traditional" marriage lasted 3 years.

Hard to get thru, but worth it in the end

OPEN MARRIAGE must be read before you get married-or before your marriage gets a day older!

This book needs to modernized. I see there is a 1984 version, but I don't know how that fits in today's age. It is a dry read, but I pushed thru and did get a few ideas to allow my own marriage to grow and flourish.

A Must Read for anyone in A Relationship

This book is a classic when it pertains to building and establishing a relationship that works for you and your partner. It is written with a much different perspective and definition of an open marriage than today's view of Open Marriage.

I highly urge anyone in a relationship to read this book together with their partner as a way to stimulate and nurture individual and collective growth.

Please keep in mind the time period this book was written in, as some of the examples used to illustrate points will not speak to the current dynamics between the sexes.

Overall, it's a thoughtful and transforming read.
